A man accused of shooting a woman at California’s Tachi Palace Casino Resort on Friday night tragically took his own life just hours later, according to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred at the casino in Lemoore, California, where the suspect, whose identity has not been released, fled after injuring the woman. Authorities later found him in a vehicle in Fresno, California, about 38 miles away.

Fresno police officers attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, but he continued driving until reaching the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Cedar Avenue. Before officers could apprehend him, the suspect shot himself. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead after emergency treatment. An autopsy is expected to determine the cause and manner of death. The medical examiner’s office will also release his identity. Local authorities have seized the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
